Timothy Safranski

Since January 1996-present, Dr. Safranski has served as the State Swine Breeding Specialist for the University of Missouri.  As such he directs an integrated Extension, teaching and research program in genetics and applied reproductive management.  His Extension program is aimed at application of management tools to enhance reproductive efficiency and to improve genetics of commercial pigs and conserve genetic variation.  He serves on the Board of Directors for the Livestock Conservancy and chairs the USDA Swine Germplasm Utilization and Preservation Committee.  He is well known for his work on farms, seminars and workshops.  His teaching is centered on a senior level, capstone, writing intensive swine production course and online swine courses.  Dr. Safranski has given invited talks or workshops in 25 U.S. states and 12 countries.  On China Dr. Safranski has spoken to producer groups as well as led students from the University of Missouri twice to study Chinese agriculture and swine production.
