Rafael Frandoloso is a full professor at the University of Passo Fundo (UPF, Brazil), international researcher at the Animal Health department at the University of León (ULE, Spain), international academic at the Academy of Veterinary Sciences of Castilla y León, and director of research and development at AFK Immunotech. Frandoloso is a Veterinary Doctor (UPF), has a PhD in veterinary immunology (ULE) and a post-doctorate in vaccinology (University of Calgary, Canada). Frandoloso works on the development of vaccines against different bacteria and viruses tha cause disease in pigs. In 2020, he published the development of the first sterilizing, broad-spectrum vaccine against Glaesserella parasuis based on the Trasferrin binding protein B (TbpB) . In 2023, he presented the development of a new serological diagnostic method for the detection of antibodies against Lawsonia intracellularis, and in the same year, he developed an innovative and intelligent platform capable of analyzing the antigenic characteristics of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Actinobacillus suis, Glaesserella parasuis, Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, Pasteurella multocida A and Streptococcus suis.
