Dr. Suphot Wattanaphansak (D.V.M., MS, PhD) is a faculty member at Department of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Science, Chulalongkorn University. He received his DVM degree from Faculty of veterinary science, Chulalongkorn University in 1997 and his MS and PhD from University of Minnesota in 2006 and 2009, respectively. The researches of interested are mainly focus on swine enteric diseases caused by Lawsonia intracellularis, an obligated intracellular bacterium that caused of acute bloody diarrhea and chronic diarrhea in grower and finisher pigs. Moreover, He also expand his researches area to several viral pathogens in swine included porcine epidemic diarrhea, rotavirus, PRRS, and PCV2. In addition, He also focus on development of autogenous vaccines for control and prevention of viral and bacterial diseases in swine and also developed a new diagnostic assays for detection and quantification of viral and bacterial pathogens and its immune response using ELISA, IPMA and qPCR system. Moreover, the recent research also focus on swine gut health by using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and nanopore sequencing system for bacterial and viral whole genome or 16S sequencing. In addition, he also work as swine technical consultant in several swine raising countries in Asia, including Thailand, China, Vietnam, Malaysia.
